Sentero II – Ceneri

Deadly Carnage’s second full length album “Senterio II – Ceneri” is a wonderful example of how a band can carry forward the exceptional song-writing as in the past. Their last album “Decadenza” had received fantastic reviews for the band’s outstanding talent and song writing.
Their opening track “Guilt of Displine” from “Senterio II – Ceneri” is a mind shattering opening, with a violent entry of guitars followed by Black vocals, fast drumming and incredible pace. This is followed by a sudden drop in the pace. The track “Parallel” starts with an Acoustic guitar and slowly builds up the slow pace; though not a mind shackling one.
Musically talking, this release is really enjoyable and is a display of the great musical capacities that Deadly Carnage possesses. The songs, though displaying quite the same structure (which is: instrumental start with quick paced riffs, sudden slow tempo or acoustic guitar part, vocal part, then instrument crescendo until end), sound clear and are easy to follow. But the same time, they give proof of an intense musical composition, which really invites you to listen in to it; and do not appear repetitive or badly arranged.
Deadly Carnage’s genre is clearly black metal, but there are a lot of clean vocals and slow pace, which seems a bit doom-ish sometimes. Though they are not displaying an out-and-out black metal tempo in this release, yet they have managed to showcase a good record.
Every song is different from the other, and the good point is that each one of them mix black metal drumming (and a harsh screaming voice with guitars that tend to play in a doom/drone metal style,) with constant and slow riffs through all of the songs; with an acoustic guitar playing a short solo part sometimes.
Overall, “Senterio II – Ceneri” is a good release, but not an outstanding one! Worth a dekko!
